The Timbers get an Alaska Airlines jet with their logo and another huge home win, while NY and LA battle it out to prove who has the best DPs. RSL get a win but lose Javier Morales to a broken ankle -- ouch. In the EPL, Manchester United defeat Chelsea to bring the title within tasting distance, but they still have a little work to do to claim it in the final two matches of the season. Man City and Arsenal go out with a whimper while Liverpool make a strong case for Europe with wild 5-2 win over Fulham in Monday's match.

The Gold Cup comes to a fantastic goal-fest conclusion as the USA blow a two-goal lead, and in MLS early road goals seem to be the trend, though the home teams all come back. Portland has a stinker in Dallas and LA have a wild one in SJ having to put a field player in goal for half the match. And oh yeah, the Women's World Cup started. Did you notice?

Trades and signings in MLS, Women's World Cup finally gets interesting, the US Women lose in group play but still advance, and in MLS, Portland lose at home again but Nagbe scores a wondergoal, while New England and RSL have a wild Fourth of July shootout in Salt Lake, and NY put five past Toronto.

It's classic games this week as Portland and Seattle clash in a five-goal thriller filled with controversy and the US Women pull out a miracle comeback against Brazil. Germany gets ousted by Japan, while Sweden also advance over Australia. In MLS, DC gets a huge win on the road against rivals NY, while RSL, LA, Houston, and Colorado all get three points, and KC get a last minute goal to keep their home unbeaten streak alive.

USA-Mexico pre-empted by ESPN's lameness, MLS teams advance in CCL, Portland wins big against LA, then draws and loses; DC's DeRosario has a hat trick against his former Canadian club but it's only for a point, but they come back with a big home win against Vancouver. In the EPL we have an opening weekend where not a single home team wins, some boring nil-nils, and the Manchesters get big wins.

LA signs Robbie Keane and he scores in first game; in CCL, all five MLS clubs get wins, while in MLS play Houston and Portland have big wins; in EPL, Fulham continue to struggle and Everton loses to QPR while Man U have a comfortable win and Chelsea come from behind to beat West Brom. In a WPS semi, Philly's Natasha Kai beats Magicjack to advance to next week's final.
